Regulatory Actions
Clear, workable regulation is essential to the future of digital assets in the United States. As federal agencies develop rules for the industry, Blockchain Association brings the expertise of our members directly into the regulatory process to advance investor protection, responsible innovation, and U.S. leadership.
Agency decisions shape whether American developers can build, businesses can operate, and consumers can access digital asset products and services in the United States. The SEC, CFTC, Treasury, and other key regulators have an opportunity to replace years of uncertainty and wrongful enforcement practices with reliable and realistic policy. Getting those frameworks right requires rules that reflect how blockchain technology works, respect the limits of agency authority, and provide a clear path to compliance.
Clear, Workable Rules
Businesses and consumers deserve to understand their obligations before facing enforcement actions. Regulations should provide reliable standards and practical pathways to offer digital asset products and services in the United States without compromising consumer and investor protections.
Technology-neutral Regulation
Rules should address the activities performed and risks involved while accounting for how blockchain systems operate. Using new technology should not trigger duplicative requirements or inappropriate obligations designed for fundamentally different business models.
Coordinated Oversight
The SEC, CFTC, and other federal agencies should align their approaches, clarify jurisdictional boundaries, and eliminate conflicting requirements while preserving strong consumer and investor protections.

Comment Letters & Rulemaking Responses
We develop detailed submissions on agency proposals, requests for information, and guidance affecting the digital asset ecosystem. Our recommendations identify practical barriers, explain their consequences, and propose solutions informed by our members’ experience.
SEC Engagement
We advocate for workable approaches to digital asset issuance, trading, custody, and tokenization, including through engagement with the SEC’s Crypto Task Force. Our work supports regulatory pathways that allow new projects to launch tokens in a compliant manner and permit the trading of tokens on centralized venues and in decentralized markets alike.
CFTC Engagement & Agency Coordination
We provide recommendations on designing regulatory frameworks for spot crypto markets, modernizing derivatives regulation, and removing unnecessary barriers to innovation. We also engage on joint SEC-CFTC initiatives to ensure consistent treatment across market regulators.
